Monday, June 12 has been declared as public holidays in Oyo and Osun States, to commemorate the June 12, 1993 presidential election.
A release signed by the Osun State Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Mr Adelani Baderinwa in Osogbo on Friday, said: “The public holiday is to commemorate the June 12, 1993 presidential election believed to have been won by the late business mogul, late Bashorun MKO Abiola, but was annulled by the General Ibrahim Babangida junta”.
The government of Osun under Governor Rauf Aregbesola has been celebrating the day since 2011.
