Few hours after President Muhammadu Buhari directed Federal Executive Council (FEC) members seeking elective positions to resign, Ministry of State for Education, Emeka Nwajiuba, has tendered his resignation letter.
Buhari had during Wednesday’s FEC meeting ordered political appointees eyeing elective positions to resign.
It was learnt that the resignation of Nwajiuba was announced during Wednesday’s FEC meeting.
The minister said he is quitting the cabinet to focus on his presidential bid.
The president has given those interested in the 2023 contest the deadline of Monday, May 16, to leave his government.
