The governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has been reelected for a second term in office.
The All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate was declared winner of Saturday’s gubernatorial election by the state’s returning officer, Prof Kayode Adebowale.
Abiodun polled 276,298 votes to defeat his closest challenger, Ladi Adebutu of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who scored 262,383 votes. Biyi Otegbeye of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), who was backed by former governor of the state and serving APC senator, Ibikunle Amosun, 94,754 votes to place third.
“That Abiodun Adedapo Oluseun of APC, having satisfied the requirements of the law is hereby declared the winner and is returned election,” Adebowale stated.
