The immediate past Chief of Staff(CoS) to Governor Yahaya Bello, Edward Onoja, has been sworn-in as the Deputy Governor of Kogi State.
Onoja, who was earlier screened by members of the House of Assembly, took the oath of office administered by the Chief Judge (CJ) of the state, Justice Nasir Ajanah at the governor’s office in Lokoja on Monday.
The Assembly had on Friday impeached Simon Achuba as the Deputy Governor, after receiving the report of the panel set up to investigate allegations of gross misconduct leveled against him.
Reacting, Achuba had on Saturday declared his impeachment as unconstitutional and a rape on democracy, saying he will challenge it in court.
Onoja, who has been described as Bello’s right hand man is also the running mate to the governor in the November 16 governorship election in the state.
