The Federal Government has cancelled pre-arrival and post-arrival COVID-19 testing for for travellers.
Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), made the announcement in a letter dated December 12, 2022, and addressed to airline operators.
“COVID-19 Travel Testing: Pre-departure and Post-arrival COVID-19 PCR tests are no longer required for all passengers irrespective of vaccination status. PCR tests required for all passengers who are partially/not fully vaccinated have been suspended,” the letter read.
Aside from the suspension of COVID-19 tests, wearing of face masks is no longer mandatory for passengers on board aircraft.
Minister of Aviation, Sen Hadi Sirika, also confirmed the development via a post on his Twitter page.
He wrote: “Glad to announce that Government has abolished Permission to travel QR code. Use of face mask is now discretionary and travel PCR tests are suspended. Aviation will boom once again🕺🏽💪🏽🇳🇬.”
