President Muhammadu Buhari has apologised for the use of live ammunitions on #EndSARS protesters by soldiers at Lekki toll plaza, Lagis, on Tuesday evening.
Nigerians had attacked Buhari after he addressed the nation on the protests on Thursday evening and failed to mention the shootings in Lagos.
However, the president tendered his apology on Friday via a post on the official Twitter handle of the president, @NGRPresident.
“I am deeply pained that innocent lives have been lost. These tragedies are uncalled for and unnecessary,” Buhari said.
Youths have been protesting against police brutality and extra judicial killings for days before Tuesday’s incident at Lekki.
