Idris was arrested on Monday by the operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged diversion of funds and money laundering activities to the tune of N80 billion.

He was arrested after failing to honour the anti-graft agency’s invitation.

According to the minister, Idris was suspended “to allow for proper and unhindered investigation into the serious allegations” against him, in line with Public Service Rules.

She added that the suspension takes effect on May 18, 2022.
