Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has endorsed Rt. Hon. Adebo Ogundoyin as Speaker of the state’s 10th House of Assembly.
Makinde gave his endorsement during the commissioning of electrification and restoration of electricity to Olorunda Ogunsola, Idi Obi, Karen, Jigan Area and environ, in Ona Ara Local Government Area of the state, on Monday.
He noted that it was only logical to entrust another opportunity on people who were good team players just as the people of Oyo State had also given his administration an opportunity for a second term in office.
The governor noted that the Speaker as the head of the legislative arm of government didn’t only perform his statutory responsibilities satisfactorily but played a stabilising role in the state polity.
He added that though he was not a member of the House of Assembly and would support a democratic process for an emergence of a Speaker, it remained his desire for Ogundoyin to return as Speaker of the 10th assembly.
The project, which was commissioned by the governor, was donated by an Ibadan-based business tycoon, Dotun Sanusi.
Ogundoyin was also the Speaker of the 9th Assembly.
