Oyo State Government, on Tuesday, suspended a secondary school student, Ojo Roqeeb, for assaulting a corps member.
Ojo, an SSS 2 student of Anglican Commercial Secondary School, Orita Mefa, Ibadan, allegedly slapped a corps member posted to the school.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Barrister Abiodun Abdu- Raheem, who frowned at incident, ordered that the student should suspended for one month immediately.
Abdu- Raheem, who was on a visit to the school, said the suspension will serve as a deterrent to other students, adding that a letter of suspension should be given to his parents.
He also said the student must apologise to the corps member and sign an undertaking that he will not repeat such act whenever he returns from suspension.
While addressing the students, the Commissioner charged them to be of good behaviour, reiterating that Oyo State Government will not condone any act of indiscipline.
He sternly warned that any student caught acting in uncivilised manner will, henceforth, be dismissed from schools in Oyo State.
The commissioner also charged teachers to be more dedicated and punctual at work.
