Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has said his administration is mobilising available resources to solve the problem of waste management in the state.
Makinde stated this on Saturday while featuring on Fresh 105.9FM programme, ‘political circuit.’
Makinde said the state is against organised crooks when it comes to waste management.
He said: “Saying that Ibadan is the dirtiest state capital is not a new thing. I’ve heard it even while growing up. If previous administrations have solved waste management problem, we won’t be here. The meaning is that the problem has not been solved.
“Oyo State Waste Management Board was not functioning when we came on board. They discarded it. Somebody told me that everyone into waste management are crooks; I have brought one task force one after the other.
“People feeding on waste management value chain are so many, we know we are against organised crooks when it comes to waste management.
“We have an architecture we believe will work. We have revived Oyo State Waste Management Authority.
“If the problem is not solved from the the root, it will keep coming back. It takes time to get into the root of the matter and it is a work in progress.”
