Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Wike, has sacked the state Commissioner for Environment, Igbiks Tamuno.
The commissioner’s sack was contained in a statement signed by the Special Assistant to the Governor on media, Kelvin Ebiri, on Tuesday and made available to newsmen.
The governor directed the sacked commissioner to submit all government documents and property in his possession to the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Environment. No reason was given for Tamuno’s sack.
It was gathered that the commissioner, who was presiding over a press conference on soot and air quality in the state when the news broke, rushed out of the briefing and asked his Permanent Secretary to hold fort.
