Justice Ladiran Akintola of the Oyo State High Court has ordered that all impeachment process againt the deputy governor, Engr. Rauf Olaniyan, to be put on hold.
Akintola gave the order on Wednesday, when the case came up at Court 7 of the State High Court, Ring Road, Ibadan.
According to the court, the status quo must be maintained pending the hearing of the application for interlocutory injunctions before it.
Recall that the case which came up on Tuesday was adjourned till Wednesday due to the absence of the legal counsel to the Oyo State House of Assembly, the Speaker of the House and Clerk.
Olaniyan had dragged the House of Assembly to court, seeking to stop what he described as “faulty process” of his impeachment.
The Assembly is billed to read Olaniyan’s reply to their allegation on Wednesday but the court has now placed the impeachment process on hold.
The court adjourned the matter till Tuesday, July 5, 2022 for the continuation of the hearing.
The adjournment was to allow the Assembly to file its reply to that of Olaniyan
Director of legal services, Olabanji represented the Assembly, while Chief Afolabi Fashanu (SAN), led Olaniyan’s legal team.
