Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has met with National Security Adviser (NSA), Nuhu Ribadu, amid the ongoing emirship tussle in the state.
Yusuf visited Ribadu in his office in Abuja, on Thursday.
In a post on his X account, the Kano governor shared a picture of himself and the NSA.
“I had a fruitful engagement with the National Security Adviser, Malam Nuhu Ribadu, this afternoon in Abuja,” he wrote.
The visit is coming days after deputy governor of Kano State, Aminu Gwarzo, accused Ribadu of facilitating the return of the dethroned Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero, to the palace by providing him with two private jets.
Ribadu denied the allegation and threatened to sue Gwarzo.
Afterwards, the deputy governor apologised to the NSA and retracted his earlier comments.
Yusuf had on May 23 reinstated Muhammadu Sanusi II as the Emir of Kano after he signed the bill that repealed the Emirate Council Law of 2019.
The Kano governor dethroned Ado Bayero and the other four Emirs, who were appointed in line with the 2019 law.
However, two days later, Bayero arrived in Kano to a hero’s welcome from his supporters
Yusuf subsequently ordered the arrest of the dethroned Emir for “creating tension in the state.”
Protests also broke out in some parts of the state over the dethronement of Bayero last weekend.
