Rapper, Kanye West, will meet US President Donald Trump at the White House on Thursday, the White House has confirmed.
Presidential spokesperson, Sarah Sanders confirmed on Tuesday that West will have lunch with both Trump and Jared Kushner, the president’s son-in-law and senior advise.
It is believed that the three men will discuss job opportunities for former convicts, as well as the number of manufacturing jobs in Chicago, West’s hometown.
Recall that the rapper’s wife, Kim Kardashian West, facilitated presidential clemency for a convicted drug dealer, Alice Marie Johnson, following a sustained campaign and a visit to the White House in May where she met with Trump and Kushner to discuss prison reform.
West, 41, has faced intense criticism for his support of Trump. He had to delete his Twitter and Instagram accounts following a backlash to his Saturday Night Live appearance, in which he wore a “Make America Great Again” baseball cap and made a pro-Trump speech after the cameras had stopped rolling.
While a representative for West confirmed to the Times that the meeting is set to take place, there was been no official word from the White House on the matter.
