Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Buruji Kashamu, of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has won back his senatorial seat after he floored his challenger, Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Cpongress (APC) on Monday.
An Appeal Court sitting in Ibadan on Monday ruled that Kashamu is the validly elected representative of Ogun East Senatorial District in the National Assembly.
Kashamu approached the Appeal Court after the Ogun State Elections Petitions Tribunal nullified his election and ordered the conduct of fresh election in 109 wards to determine the actual winner of the seat.
His election was challenged by his opponent in the 2015 general election, Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Recall that in the course of the hearing, the Court of Appeal panel was disbanded over a controversial N150 million bribe allegedly given to the judges by Kashamu.
It was the new panel that gave Kashamu the victory on Monday.
The Appeal Court is the court of last jurisdiction for senatorial elections.
