Some residents of Kishi, Irepo Local Government of Oyo State have confirmed the statement by Aare Gani Adams that suspected terrorists have occupied the town, attacking, kidnapping and raping hapless citizens.
Very reliable sources informed Newspeakonline that no fewer than 11 motorcyclists were kidnapped Wednesday morning, throwing their families and the town in disarray. Adam had revealed that the suspected terrorists were sighted with about 50 power bikes around their habitation in the forest reserve in the area.
A resident with reliable knowledge of the security situation told Newspeakonline that the suspected terrorists are increasing in number in the very large forest, adding that their operations have left locals in fear.
But the police formation in the area is said to have been fully briefed. All the security agencies in the area have agreed to work together to defeat the criminals.
The source recalled that the criminals did the same thing around 2014, pointing out that the efforts of a joint security operation flushed them out of the forest. With a resurgence in 2017, the source said the state government at the time worked for the establishment of an Army base in the area which has kept them at bay since then. The source explained that the forest extends to New Bussa in Niger State and Sambisa in Borno State.
