The city of Ibadan will come alive on Wednesday, August 14, as prominent indigenes are set to attend the eight-day firdau prayer of the late Alaba of Abanla, Oba Tiamiyu Labiyi Oladipupo.
Recall that the late monarch, who died on Tuesday at the age of 104, was laid to rest at Abanla, in Oluyole Local Government Area of Oyo State.
Oba Oladipupo, was said to be the oldest king among Baale’s that were recently elevated to the status of Oba by the Oyo State Government.
The firdaus event, scheduled to hold at Prospect High School, Abanla, will bring together dignitaries, traditional rulers, community leaders and members, who will pay their respects to the late monarch.
Those expected at the event include Otun Olubadan of Ibadan land, Sen. Rashidi Ladoja, Royal Majesties, Chiefs, Mogajis, Royal Highnesses, Baales and several VIPs.
Others expected at the event are notable Islamic scholars and clerics, who will lead the Fidau prayer and deliver eulogies in honour of the late Oba Oladipupo.
The late Alaba of Abanla was a respected and beloved leader, known for his wisdom, kindness, and contributions to the development of Abanla and Ibadan.
His passing has left a void in the hearts of his people, and the forthcoming Firdau prayer is an opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate his life and legacy.
The eight-day Firdau prayer is a significant event in the Islamic calendar, marking the end of the mourning period for the deceased.
