The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo state may be thrown to another crisis going by the disquiet brewing over the new harmonized list of State Executive of the party released by the national leadership on Tuesday.
The list ceded 14 slots to the Senator Rashidi Ladoja faction, and 12 to the Seyi Makinde faction. The positions of State Chairman, Women Leader, Publicity Secretary, Legal Adviser, Vice Chairmen 1&2 went to Ladoja while the position of State Secretary and many other positions went to Makinde.
Reports say the national leadership of the party took the decision in order to give all members a sense of belonging, especially after the two factions had parallel congresses late last year when they could not agree on a sharing formula for leadership positions.
Sources told Newspeakonline on Wednesday that the outcome of the harmonised list was not sitting well with the Ladoja faction with its leaders reportedly planning to leave the party just few months after rejoining the PDP from the Accord Party.
The Ladoja camp is reportedly unhappy with what they call an express decision by the national leadership without their leader’s approval.
Reports say the aggrieved faction will meet on Thursday in Ibadan, where they may announce their defection. Those expected at the meeting apart from their leader, Ladoja, include Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, Barr. Sharafadeen Alli and Sen. Ayoade Adeseun among others.
Former Leader of the House of Representatives, Hon. Mulikat Adeola-Akande and Barr. Hazeem Gbolarumi are members of the Makinde faction.
