Part of the country home of late premier of the defunct Western region, Chief Samuel Ladoke Akintola, will be converted to a resource centre for academic research.
Mr Yemi Adedokun, the Cordinator of the Samuel Ladoke Akintola Foundation, disclosed this on Thursday at a press confrence in Ogbomoso.
Speaking after the facility tour of the building, Adedokun said the children of the late premier have resolved to restructure the facilities for public use.
He disclosed that Dr Mrs Bimbo Akintola and other members of the family are committed to ensure that the resource centre is of international standard with e library, recreation centre and other facilities.
He said: “Already we are working on the library with over 5000 books found in Baba’s library, work has also commenced in the fixing of an olympic size swimming pool and other things that will bring real picture of what the late sage had in mind when building the house”.
He also disclosed that the family is also planning to restore the statue of the late sage at the parliamentary road and the motion he moved for indepedence fixed there.
While unveiling the the programme of activities lined up for the 52nd remembrance activities slated for January 12, 2018,Adedokun said notable personalities including the governors of the south west, traditional rulers and captains of industry are expected to grace the event
He Governor Akinwumi Ambode of Lagos state will deliver a lecture entitled “Democracy,National Integration and National Development” while the lead discussants would be Governors Rauf Aregbesola of Osun, Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta and Aminu Tambuwa of Sokoto state.
