The body of the late chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo State, Chief Isaac Omodewu, will arrive Nigeria from the United States of America on Thursday, September 12, 2024.
The party’s state Publicity Secretary, Olawale Sadare, disclosed this in an interview with The PUNCH, on Sunday.
Omodewu, who travelled to the US for medical trip in November 2023, died on Sunday, August 18, 2024.
“The body of our chairman will leave USA on September 11, arrive in Nigeria on Thursday, September 12. We will hold a Christian wake on Thursday in Ibadan, while church service and burial will hold in his home town, Otu in Itesiwaju Local Government Area of the state, on Friday, September 13,” Sadare said.
Omodewu served as Commissioner for Lands as well as Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs in the administration of late former Governor Abiola Ajimobi’s administration.
On whether the vice chairman, Alh Olayide Abas, will be sworn-in after the burial of the late chairman, Sadare said: “We have not acted on it. We will work on it after the burial. We put it on hold for now. We want to give our chairman last respect.”
