The Beast, as he is fondly called, has not been offered a new contract at the club for next season. So, joking after the match, he told SkySports:
“I think I’m technically unemployed, so any managers hit me up on the WhatsApp and get me a job.”
The comment was quickly picked up by the UK Twitter account of wrestling network WWE, who simply tweeted a telephone emoji in response.
However, the world’s strongest footballer should have no problem finding a new club if the past 24 hours are anything to go by with offers from as far afield as Australia and the Far East.
