Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu, DSS DG, Mamman Daura; Head of Service, Winifred Oyo-Ita, and a host of others, today appeared before the House of Representatives Committee probing the Pension scam saga and the circumstances surrounding the reinstatement of former Chairman of the Presidential Task Force on Pension Reform, Abdulrasheed Maina
The officials explained what they knew about the controversy. Below are exceepts from the hearing monitored on Channels TV
Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun.
She said Maina was not getting salaries from 2013.
She said: “We use two platforms to pay salaries “IPPIS” and “GIFMIS”, and there is no trace of any payment made to Maina.
She said the ministry does not have Maina’s biometric data

“Maina could not be arrested because he was not on our watch list. Let me state that the Service has nothing to with the reinstatement of Maina back into the Civil Service and his promotion.
“Maina had written to us asking for protecting claiming threat to his life and we are looking at the matter.
“In March, the Attorney General of the Federation had approach me that Maina wanted them to meet and I advised him to go with a third party. He later told me that he met with Maina in company of the National Security Adviser.

We only knew about Maina on 27th September 2013, when he was accosted at the international airport around 2pm, following the letter from the EFCC declaring him wanted.
Since 2013, we have checked through our e-portals but could not see anywhere that Maina has traveled out of the country. He may have travelled out of the country through unusual means”
Maina has three passports, he also has an American passport. He’s an American citizen too

“Maina is under investigation by the EFCC for fraud and money laundering. He is the arrow head of complex web of illicit deals that saw hundreds of millions of pension funds allegedly ending up in his private pockets.
