Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has been hailed for his financial commitment to the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII).
A member of CCII who spoke on condition of anonymity, said nobody can match Makinde’s financial commitment to the organisation because the governor has contributed over N100 million towards the progress and development of CCII and Ibadan land.
The member said Makinde has been contributing immensely to the development of CCII before he assumed office as governor of Oyo State.
According to him, Makinde has donated over 100 million in the last eight years when nobody supported CCII, which made him the main financier of CCII back then.
“When Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade was the chairman of Ibadan week between 2017/2018, Makinde donated 12 million and another 15 million.
“When Reverend Demola Moradeyo was the chairman of Ibadan week for three-term, Makinde single handedly contributed nothing less than N30 million.
“Makinde also donated N25 million to CCII when Col. Nike Akerele was the chairman of Ibadan week.
“He was the first individual that his contributions is worth more than N100 million for CCII and development of Ibadan land, either dead or alive. No one has ever make such financial commitment to CCII than Makinde.
“Gov Seyi Makinde equally gave a sum of $20 thousand last year when Alh Gaphar Ojetola was the chairman, Ibadan Week Cultural Festival Planning Committee, not forgetting N10 million scholarship scheme he initiated during the inauguration ceremony of Prince Yemisi Adeaga as CCII President-General.
“Altogether, Makinde has donated about N150 million to CCII, and his efforts and contributions towards the development of Ibadan was appreciated by series of awards of honour including that of Chief Yemi Soladoye’s regime as CCII President-General in the year 2021,” he said.
