The Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde; Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Lekan Balogun Alli-Okunmade II; APC governship candidate in Oyo State, Sen. Teslim Folarin and his Accord counterpart, Chief Adebayo Adelabu, are among distinguished individuals to be honoured with Ibadan Compound Peace Initiative (ICPI) awards for their contributions towards peace and developement of Ibadan land.
Other awardees include wife of former Oyo State Governor, Alhaja Mutiat Ladoja; Chairman of Ilaji Hotel and Sports Resort, Engr. Dotun Sanusi; all Ibadan High Chiefs, Iyalode of Ibadan land; Otun Iyalode of Ibadan land; Balogun Iyalode of Ibadan land; Oloye Adegoke Adegboyega; Chief Lowo Obisesan; Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Adebowale Williams; Director, DSS Oyo State; Commandant, NSCDC Oyo State; Commander, Operation Burst Oyo State; Commander, Amotekun Corps Oyo State, Bri Gen. Kunle Toogun (Rtd).
A statement jointly signed by the President, Association of Ibadan Mogajis, Mogaji Asimiyu Ariori and the Coordinator of ICPI, Mogaji Nurudeen Akinade, said the programme, tagged,’Ibadan Compond Peace Award Day,’ will hold on February 17, 2023 at Mapo Hall, Ibadan, by 11am.
According to the statement, Makinde and Olubadan of Ibadan land would be honored as the Grand Patron and Royal Grand Patron of ICPI respectively.
The event will also witness the presentation of Ibadan Compound Volunteer Local Police Corps by the Commissioner of Police, Williams.
“The purpose of the maiden edition of Ibadan Peace Day Celebration is to sustain collective progress and developement of Ibadan land,” the statement said.
It maintained that ICPI in conjunction with security agencies and government at all levels gather intelligence and sustain security and peaceful coexistence among people in Ibadan land, which has been yielding positive results.
“ICPI is a registered organisation comprising of highly reliable Ibadan High Chiefs, Senior Chiefs, Traditional Chiefs, Mogajis, Baales and distinguished sons and daughters of the soil under the authority of His Imperial Majesty, the Olubadan of Ibadan land,” it added.
