Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, will inaugurate the 9th State House of Assembly on Monday.
Lawmakers making up the new House include 26 from the Peoples Democratic Party(PDP), five from the All Progressives Congress(APC) and one from the Action Democratic Party(ADP).
The outgone Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Olagunju Ojo, on Friday at a valedictory session held at the Assembly Complex, Agodi, Ibadan gave an insight into the achievements of the 8th Assembly.
He said the Assembly considered 157 motions. He said the House passed 87 bills, 70 of which have become laws.
The Speaker led the observation of a minute silence for the late Speaker, Hon. Michael Adeyemo and Hon. Gideon Akande who died during the life of the 8th Assembly.
He also thanked members of the House for giving him the opportunity to be the Speaker after Adeyemo’s demise.
He appreciated the collective effort and high sense of responsibility of the members and staff of the house for their impact since June 10, 2015 till June 7, 2019.
He further stated that they have passed both executive and private bills to provide legal framework for government businesses and activities.
He admonished the electorate to hold politicians accountable and not stop at the ballot boxes so as to bring progress to the state.
