Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, has told his Osun State counterpart,Adegboyega Oyetola, that it is not over for him politically, following his loss in the July 16 governorship poll in the state.
Speaking at the joint flag off of the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the 91km Osogbo/Iwo/Ibadan road at Aje market, Osogbo, on Thursday, Makinde said the promise of God will always come to pass like Oyetola always assert.
He said that residents of Oyo State are warming up for the second part of his good governance in 2023, adding that Oyetola has not come to the end of his political journey.
“I know we are not here to campaign but I know that there is a prophetic word from my brother, Governor Oyetola. I know that Oyo people are ready for Omituntun part two. We will allow God’s promise to come to pass, I can tell you my brother that this is not the end of your political journey,” he said.
Makinde also described the event between two states as a revolution of the new order, which is being led by the two governors.
He noted that the state government will handle the 35.6km stretch from Iwo Road interchange to the boundary between Oyo and Osun State.
The 35.6km road has been awarded to Peculiar Ultimate for the sum of N12.5 billion.
Earlier, Oyetola lauded the collaboration between the two states, which ensured the project came to fruition.
The Osun State governor said the project was initially conceptualised from Osogbo to Iwo town, but on a second thought felt the Ibadan section was also in bad shape, adding that Makinde without hesitation accepted the idea.
He added that the 55km Osogbo-Iwo stretch in Osun State will be handled by Peculiar Ultimate for the sum of N11.39 billion.
The road project is expected to be completed within 18 months.
