A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Chief Benedict Akika, has made his first public appearance after his release from kidnappers’ den.
At the monthly meeting of the Akinyele/Lagelu Omituntun Benedict Forum (OBF), Akika expressed deep appreciation to Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde, Otunba Joseph Adeseye Famojuro, Alhaji Lekan Salawudeen, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Rt Hon Adebo Ogundoyin, and members of the assembly.
Akika, who is an ally of Makinde also commended efforts of security agencies, including the Commissioner of Police, Nigeria Army, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Amotekun, and media outlets in Oyo State, for their role in securing his release.
Describing his ordeal as “challenging,” Akika, who is the founder of Omituntun Benedict Foundation, praised the swift response of security agencies and well-wishers.
“I am grateful to be reunited with my family and loved ones. I sincerely extend my appreciation to my wife, Chief (Mrs) Bidemi Akika, for her belief in God, patience, and understanding,” he said.
The PDP chieftain also thanked the Ololorunda of Olorunda-Abaa, Oba Samuel Abiodun Folarin, for his selfless efforts in securing his safe release. He equally appreciated executives, elders, and members of Omituntun Benedict Forum (OBF), community organisations, and religious leaders across the nation for their prayers and support.
Akika appreciated state, local government, and ward executives of PDP in the state.
“Your generosity helped secure my safe release and brought comfort to my family. Your kindness will never be forgotten,” he added.
