Two suspected rival cult groups clashed at a liquor joint in Agbowo area of Ibadan on Wednesday, unleashing terror on the area and causing the death of a 35-year-old man simply identified as Yahaya.
Sources said the late Yahaya, who was believed to be a member of one of the cults, was matcheted several times by four members of the rival group. He reportedly bled to death before help could come.
Two of his friends were also wounded during the clash.
The Oyo State Police Public Relations Officer, Adekunke Ajisebutu, who confirmed the incident, said the hoodlums fled the scene immediately the police arrived.
He said:”As soon as the police got a hint about the incident, the patrol team was immediately drafted to the scene.
“On sighting the police officers, the perpetrators of the deadly act took to their heels. One Yahaya, 35, was found lifeless in his own pool of blood and the body has been deposited at the Adeoyo mortuary for autopsy”.
He said that the police was already on the trail of the suspects.
