A 40-year-old man, Friday Akpan, is currently in police net for nailing his two children to a plank and locking them up in a hut for weeks without food.
TVC News rwports that Friday took the action following the advise of a herbalist identified as ‘Dr’ Okokon. They branded the kids witches.
Friday, who resides in Calabar, said the children – aged 12 and 6 – took his money to their “master in the witchcraft world and therefore deserve no mercy”.
After being rescued, the children, looking emaciated and evidently starved, said they survived by water which was supplied to them by another of Friday’s kids, from another woman.
TVC quoted them as saying: “Our sister, Peace usually bring us water inside the hut when our father and our mother has gone out”.
The victims explaned that their father, used to reside in Akpabuyo, with the family where they attended a private school, but everything took a turn for their father married another wife, Iquo, following the death of their mother.
The eldest kid, Elisha, said: “My mother (stepmother),who used to live near our house in Akpabuyo gave us food and she put something in the food and when we ate it we changed to bird at night and took our father’s money to our master in the witchcraft world”.
Elisha was reportedly alleged to have taken N4,000 while Esther was said to have taken N2000. The alleged theft was said to have angered their father and stepmother who started beating them severely and denying them food.
