Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta, will soon become a degree-awarding institution, Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has said.
According to the governor who spoke at the 14th convocation ceremony of the institution last Thursday, the state has opened discussions with the National Universities Commission, with a view to actualising this.
His words:
“Ogun State has the highest number of higher institutions in the country. This administration believes in creating the enabling environment for them to thrive. We are already looking into the possibility of making MAPOLY a degree-awarding institution.
“We have already written to the National Universities Commission and we believe very soon we will receive its response.”
Commending the leadership of the school, Amosun said he would construct two hostels in the institution, in the memory of his parents.
The governor, who said his administration accorded education priority, noted that it was a potent tool of achieving socio-economic development.
