Chocolate bars maker, Mars, is recalling some chocolate bars of Galaxy, Malteasers Teasers and bags of Minstrels, as they may contain salmonella.
Consumers in UK and Ireland who have bought any of the affected chocolate treats are being advised to avoid eating them and to return them to shops.
Salmonella Symptoms include diarrhoea, stomach cramps and sometimes vomiting and fever.
On average, it takes from 12 to 72 hours for the symptoms to develop after swallowing an infectious dose of salmonella. Symptoms usually last for four to seven days and most people recover without treatment.
It comes after Mars was last year forced to recall chocolate products in 55 countries after plastic pieces were found in them.
In the UK the products affected included funsize Mars and Milky Way bars and boxes of Celebrations. In the Netherlands Mars and Snickers bars were also affected.
The recall occurred after a customer in Germany found bits of plastic in a Snickers bar. The plastic was traced back to the Mars factory in the southern town of Veghel in the Netherlands.
