Vice Chancellor of University of Ibadan, Prof Isaac Adewole, faced the senate for screening as ministerial position on Tuesday.
Adewole is a Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology. He was also the provost of the College of Medicine, Ibadan.
He answered questions on Education and Health.
Among the issues he had to address was one from Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, which asked him to address the notion that the outgoing VC was pro-abortion.
“As regards Abortion, I must say I am Pro-Life, not Pro-abortion. Lots of women and girls die from abortion, we need to create a sex education to enlighten these girls’
“As regards pro-life or pro-abortion. My philosophy is this: I’ll do everything to prevent any Nigerian from dying, either by abortion or complications”
‘I still remain an Activist, the only thing that has changed is that I am more matured.’
‘We need to include Public Health Education in everything we do.’
‘What we need is a well updated, well upgraded and a well functional Health Care System.’
‘About 60% of Nigerians go to private clinics, we need to regulate the Health Care System in Nigeria.’
‘We can reduce the rate of Infant Mortality and Maternal Mortality to an acceptable rate. ‘
‘Prostate Cancer is the leading form of cancer among men.’
