Irate youths have set ablaze the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) office at Kazaure Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
Police spokesman in the state, SP Abdu Jinjiri, confirmed the incident to newsmen in Dutse on Friday, explaining that the incident happened on Thursday around 6pm when men of the NDLEA were on a patrol in Kazaure town beside the river where it was gatherd that some youth were indulging in illicit drug activities.
He said one Abubakar Lawal, 25, of Shaiskawa Quarters in Kazaure while trying to escape on sighting the NDLEA personnel, fell into the river and drowned.
Jinjiri said the attack on the NDLEA building was the youths’ reaction to the death of their colleague. He said the fire was put out by fire service officials, security agencies and residents in the area.
He said investigation was still going on and that the offenders will be arrested.
