The people of Iyanfoworogi community in Ile-Ife have not stopped expressing gratitude to the monarch of the town, the Adagba of Iyanfoworogi, Oba Rasheed Adetayo Oladele, for the medical outreach organised in the community last week.
The programme tagged Ife Ooye Medical Mission 2019 was held at Adagba’s Palace, Iyanfoworogi on April 11, 2019. It witnessed free prescription and distribution of medicines and eye glasses for those who needed them. The people also got free minor surgeries, eye surgeries, free treatment for malaria, typoid, hypertension and diabetes.
Those who benefited included children and adults of all ages who turned out massively Opa, Opa Nla, Lasunbare, Lakoro, Ifesowapo and Iyanfoworogi itself.
In the past, the programme usually held at the Ooni’s palace by the Ife Ooye North America, a group of which Oba Oladele was a strong member. The monarch has now promised to organise more in the future.
The Baale of Iyanfoworogi expressed joy at the programme which was holding for the first time in Iyanfoworogi. He said “the king had not spent up to six months on the throne yet managed to bring such a development to the community.”
In her remarks, the Iyaloja of Iyanfoworogi said: “I am very happy about the programme held because if I had gone to the hospital, I would have gone there early in the morning and will leave there late and I will have to pay huge amount of money in the hospital. But here, I was attended to nicely and earlier and the medication are free.” She urged the king to organize the programme every year or every six months.
The medical personnel were from Washington D.C and OAUTHC( Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTH) Ile-Ife.
Oba Adetayo was crowned by the Ooni of Ife on November 24, 2018.
