Another high ranking chief in the Olubadan-In-Council, High Chief Omowale Kuye, is dead. Reports said he died Thursday night at the age of 87.
High Chief Kuye was the Otun Olubadan of Ibadanland, the next rank to the Olubadan, Oba Samuel Odulana Odugade I, who clocked 102 recently. He was buried on Friday at his Ikolaba residence in accordance with Islamic rites.
Kuye’s death comes barely two weeks after that of High Chief Balogun Sulaimon Adegboyega Omiyale, Balogun Olubadan of Ibadanland, who died at 92.
Until his death, Kuye was a step to becoming Olubadan. And with his death on Thursday, the current Otun Balogun, High Chief Saliu Adetunji, is expected to get promotion to the office of Balogun Olubadan any moment from now.
Kuye, a successful career officer and top ranking leaders of Ibadanland, was a former Director General, Special Duties and later Budget in the Office of the President of Nigeria.
His first son, Demola Kuye said that his father died at the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, after a protracted old age related illness.
