The National Broadcasting Commission (NBC) celebrates 26 years of deregulation of broadcasting in Nigeria today, August 24, 2018 .
The Commission carries out its regulatory activities by licensing, rule-making, monitoring, enforcement, research, consultation, attending to complaints from the public and generally taking necessary steps to direct the growth of the sector in line with its vision and mission.
The National Broadcasting Commission was founded on August 24, 1992 with the promulgation of Decree 38 0f 1992.
It was later amended as an Act of the National Assembly by Act 55 of 1999, and now known as the National Broadcasting Commission Laws of the Federation 2004, CAP N11, to among other responsibilities, regulate and control the broadcasting industry in Nigeria.
