The National Examinations Councils (NECO) has released the 2022 Senior School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results for internal candidates.
Announcing the release of the results in Minna, Niger State, on Thursday, NECO Registrar, Professor Dantani Wushishi, said the results were released, as promised, exactly 45 days after the conduct of the last paper.
He disclosed that the number of candidates who made Credit and above in English Language is 889,188, representing 74.89%, while the number of candidates who made Credit and above in Mathematics is 929,140, representing 78.23%.
Wushishi explained that the number of candidates who made five credits and above including English and Mathematics is 727,864, representing, 60.74%.
The NECO boss further revealed that the total number of candidates that registered for the examination is 1,209,703, with 636,327 male, representing 52.60%, and 573,376 female, representing 47.39%.
He, however, explained that the number of candidates that actually sat for the examination is 1,198,412, with 630,180 male, representing 52.58% and 568,232 female, representing 47.41%.
Wushishi also revealed that the council blacklisted 29 supervisors for their alleged involvement in various malpractice offences, adding that four schools were recommended for de-recognition for two years over consistent malpractices.
The NECO Registrar added that the council recorded a decline in malpractices in the 2022 examinations as against other years.
According to him, the decline in malpractices during the examination was appreciable.
“In the area of malpractices, 13, 595 were caught as against 20, 003 in year 2021, which showed appreciable decline in number of malpractices cases.
“Twenty nine supervisors were blacklisted for various offences ranging from poor supervision, insult, aiding and abetting during the examinations,” he said.
