A pitbull dog belonging to a family in Florida has been euthanized after investigators proved it fatally attacked a baby girl in her crib.
According to reports, the five-month-old baby girl’s life came to a tragic end earlier this week after she was attacked by the family dog.
Emergency crews responded to a 911 call at a Florida home where they found the grandfather performing CPR on the baby.
The family told officials their pitbull jumped on the bed which was next to the baby’s crib, and attacked the little girl while her grandmother was in another room.
The baby was still “somewhat responsive” when sheriff’s deputies arrived, according to the Citrus County Chronicle. She was taken via medical airlift to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
Thereafter, animal control officers euthanized the dog and investigators ruled the baby’s death accidental.
