Reports have it that presidential candidate of the African Action Congress (AAC), in the last election, Omoyele Sowore, has been arrested by men of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Sowore, the publisher of SaharaReporters, was said to have been picked up at his apartment in the early hours of Saturday.
He posted a distress tweet at exactly 1:25 am which reads, “DSS invades Sowore’s.”
SaharaReporters later tweeted that policemen invaded the activist’s apartment and that his phones have been seized. His whereabouts is currently unknown.
Sowore’s arrest may not be unconnected with the #RevolutionNow Protests, which he plans to lead as from August 5, 2019 as well as his recent parley with the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.
The DSS is yet to confirm the arrest.
