Oyo State governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde has tasked commanders of the state joint security task force, code name “Operation Burst” to beef up security in the border towns of the state.
The governor gave the charge when he paid an assessment visit to the oftice of the security outfit in Ibadan.
He urged the security agency to redesign the architecture of operation for wider coverage of the state.
According to the governor, there is need for Operation Burst to beef up its operations especially around the border towns in Ibarapa and Oke Ogun zones to put an end to the security breaches being recorded in the area.
He also promised to relaunch the security outifit, rejig its budget and equip it with more men within his first 100 days in office.
The commander of the agency, Brigadier-General, Oluyinka Soyele highlighted some of the challenges being faced by his men but pledged that the agency would do its best in ensuring a safer Oyo state.
