The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, on Tuesday disclosed that since January 2019 till date, the force has arrested a total of 4,187 high profile suspects across the country.
IGP Adamu made the disclosure at the conference with senior police officers in Abuja.
He said the figure showed that the crime fighting strategies deployed by the force coupled with the commitment demonstrated by officers across all ranks have combined to aid in stabilizing the internal security profile of the country.
He gave the breakdown of the suspects as follows:
- Armed robbery suspects – 1,629
- Suspected kidnappers – 1,053
- Cultist – 1,023
- Murder suspects – 482
He also explained that the essence of the conference is “to keep abreast with the dynamics of crime and to jointly discuss pathways towards either strengthening existing strategies or evolving new approaches.”
