The Nigerian Senate has given the Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, one week to issue a fresh proclamation for the inauguration of the state House of Assembly failure of which the National Assembly may move to take over the state legislature.
The senate also demanded that the proclamation be published in national and local print and electronic media.
The Senate has issued a one-week ultimatum to the Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki to issue a proclamation for the inauguration of another House of Assembly.
The directive followed the adoption of the report of its adhoc committee that investigated the crisis rocking the Assembly.
The committee in its report recommended three weeks but the senate amended it to just one week.
The move follows a similar directive issued by the House of Representatives two weeks ago.
