A Nigerian Air Force pilot has died after two aircraft belonging to the Force crashed around Katampe hills, Abuja on Friday.
The Air force Director of Publicity, Air Commodore Ibikunle Daramola, confirmed the accident saying the airplanes collided with each other while practicing for the Independence Day show scheduled for October 1, 2018.
The pilots ejected from the planes before the crash. Sadly however, one of the pilots was confirmed dead.
In a tweet this afternoon, Daramola said: “It is with a heavy heart that I regretfully announce that one of the pilots who successfully ejected from one of the F-7Ni aircraft that crashed earlier today has passed on. May his soul RIP. Additional details on the incident will be communicated later. Thank you”
