Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) is set to collaborate with the Nigeria Railway Corporation (NRC) on the movement of cargo and other postal services to boost economy of the nation.
Postmaster-General of the Federation, Dr. Ismail Adewusi, stated this during a recent meeting with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NRC, Engr Freeborn Okhiria, in Abuja.
Adewusi said the collaboration is geared towards taking advantage of the NRC’s extensive rail networks on the movement of cargo and mail items across the country.
He stressed that NIPOST over time had a robust relationship with NRC, saying that they need to go back to those period.
“One of those areas is the presence of our postal services along railway outlets across Nigeria. We want to have physical presence in most of your locations, so that we can operate as agency to provide services in those areas.
“This colIaboration between NIPOST and NRC will shorten our delivery time and enhance our quality of service,” Adewusi said
Responding, Okhiria expressed NRC’s readiness to partner with NIPOST for the benefit of Nigeria’s economic growth.
“NRC is willing to collaborate and partner with NIPOST. The proposal and request tabled will be put into black and white,” he said.
