The Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST) has signed a tripartite partnership with eGate and Visa in its efforts to drive digital financial services to Nigerian masses.

The agreement, which was signed by NIPOST’s Postmaster General/Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Dr Ismail Adewusi, is aimed at bringing more ordinary Nigerians into the digital financial service delivery system.

Signing the partnership, Adewusi said NIPOST has a strategic plan to provide financial inclusion services as part of Nigeria’s digital transformation plan.

He said: ”Today we take this plan forward by signing with eGate, one of the leaders in digital transformation and our consultant who leads our digital transformation plan and Visa, the world leader in digital payments”.

e-Gate’s CEO Essam El-Sagheer and Alex McCrea, Vice President, Global Digital Partnership, Visa, signed for their respective companies.

El-Sagheer said eGate is one of the digital transformation leaders in Africa.
He pointed out that the agreement would enable NIPOST provide digital financial services using Visa credit and prepaid cards to unbanked customers as a way of supporting financial inclusion , government eServices and Nigeria’s drive for a cashless society. The idea, he explained, would expand the acceptance of electronic payments where Visa will provide card payments solutions for the success of digital payment system.
