The media team of immediate-past governor of Bauchi State, Malam Isa Yuguda, has denied reports that the new state government recovered 22 cars from the immediate-past governor’s wife.
Head of the media team, Mr Jeff Kachikwu, said in a statement released in Abuja on Sunday that the cars in question were allocated to the immediate-past governor and his official aides during his time in office, not to any of his wives.
The statement stressed that the cars were voluntarily handed over to the appropriate authority within a week after handing over ceremony by Yuguda.
“It therefore left much to be desired when the new administration in the state was alleging that Yuguda’s wives were ever in possession of the said cars.
“How can she use government vehicles after leaving the office as the First Lady when she was not even a government official while in office?
“The truth is that the cars were being used by government officials who were entitled to the cars during the former governor’s time in office not to any of his wives.
“All the cars were duly handed over shortly after the hand-over date,” the media team said in the statement.
