Olubadan-designate, High Chief Lekan Balogun, has assured that henceforth, aspiring Ibadan chieftaincy title’ holders would be subjected to historical check in order to ensure that only people of respectable background hold chieftaincy titles.
Balogun stated this on Tuesday while hosting former first lady of Oyo State, Mrs. Florence Ajimobi and her entourage at his Alarere residence.
Balogun, who said that money would no longer be determining factor to hold chieftaincy titles in Ibadan, said his focus would be centered on growth and development of the city and Oyo State in general.
He expressed gratitude to God for the strength and courage with which the former first lady has been forging ahead since the demise of her husband.
“I promise a receptive and open-door reign which would welcome advice and suggestions for the peace and upliftment of our great city.”
Earlier, Ajimobi, who was accompanied by former Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Chief Olalekan Alli, and his wife, Mrs. Alli, as well as the wife of the former Head of Service (HoS) in the state, Mrs. Eniade,among others prayed for good health, sound mind and wisdom for the Olubadan-designate.
She equally prayed for peace, stability, growth and development of the ancient city during the reign of Balogun just as he
commiserated with him on the demise of his predecessor.
