The National Universities Commission (NUC) has abolished the award of pass grades and degrees in all Nigerian universities with effect from the 2013/2014 academic session.
This was disclosed by the Vice-Chancellor of Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, Prof. Abdullahi Zuru, at the institution’s 2014/2015 matriculation ceremony.
He said: “What this means is that the minimum pass mark for courses in the universities will now be 45 per cent, that is, D-grade instead of the previous 40 per cent which was E-grade while the minimum class of grade to be earned by the students will be now be Third Class”
He stated that none of the students in the universities would graduate with a pass grade.
