An Osun State High Court in Osogbo presided over by Justice Adepele Ojo has denied the bail application of the owner of Hilton Hotels and Resort, Dr Rahmon Adedoyin, and six staff of the hotel over the alleged murder Timothy Adegoke, a Master’s student of Obafemi Awolowo University(OAU), Ile Ife.
The defendants, Adedoyin, Magdalene Chiefuna, Adeniyi Aderogba, Oluwole Lawrence, Oyetunde Kazeem, Adebayo Kunle and Adedeji Adesola, are facing trial on eleven counts bothering on murder, conspiracy, felony amongst others.
Although the court observed that the charges pressed against Adedoyin were bailable, it however noted that they were serious felony charges that could attract jail term.
Justice Ojo refused the bail application of the defendants stating that their health condition are not critical.
The judge argued that the health reasons that their applications were based on could not be relied on as the defendants’ health could not be said to be threatened
Upon arraignment, counsels to the defendants, Adekunle Adegoke, K. K Eleja and Okon Ita had moved the bail application for the seven defendants, which was opposed by the prosecutor, M. O. Omosun.
Adedoyin and six others arrested in connection with the death of Adegoke were arraigned and remanded last Thursday, while ruling on their bail applications were reserved till Monday.
