Award-winning singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, on Saturday, announced the donation of N250 million to orphanages across Nigeria.
According to the singer, the money came from his N100 million challenge which raked in N201 million in three days.
Making the announcement via his Instagram page, Davido stated that he has decided to add N50 million to the donation from fans and colleagues.
In total, Davido is set to support orphanages across Nigeria with a sum of N250 million.
On Wednesday, Davido asked his friends and fans to donate N1 million each to him for his birthday.
Though he added that the goal was to get N100 million, the singer received over N53 million in cash transfers in less than one hour.
Following the successful contribution, the singer has decided to give back to society.
Davido also set up a five-man committee to oversee the disbursement of the funds, as he promised that their activities would be made public.

Meanwhile Nigerian businessman, Obinna Iyiegbu, popularly known as Obi Cubana and veteran media personality, Dele Momodu, have hailed Davido for the donation.
Reacting to Davido’s gesture, Obi Cubana, who was one of the celebrities that donated cash to the singer, took to his Instagram page to hail him.
“Davido donates 250m to orphanages! You see what we are talking about? A king will always be a king!
“We all rise by lifting others! It’s not about how much we have but having the mind to help when and where we can! Together, we can all make the world a better place! Thank you King David for impacting the world positively. Thank you!” Obi Cubana wrote.
Momodu, whose niece, Sophia, has a child for Davido, also hailed the singer, saying: “Well done King David; a phenomenal influence well utilised.”
Referring to Davido as her cousin, Nollywood actress, Wumi Toriola, said: “Blood is thicker than water. Davido, my own man of the year. My cousin to the world. Queen Lateefah’s lineage. I hate to boast about fam but it is what it is. Love and light.”
Also, the founder of Fresh 105.9FM, Ibadan, Yinka Ayefele, said: “This is why I love this young man, @davido, he stands out. The wisdom of God will never depart from you my dear brother.”
Asides celebrities, fans have also hailed the singer for his philanthropic act.
